GEO optimisation · Visibility in AI search

GEO optimisation for companies buyers look for in AI answers.

GEO optimisation (generative engine optimisation) is the work of adjusting a company's website, content and mentions so that AI systems such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, and Google AI Overviews and AI Mode mention and recommend you in their answers and cite your page as a source. SEO measures where a link ranks; GEO measures what AI answers when a buyer asks for a provider.

PIKA. Digital starts GEO optimisation with a measurement: 15 questions in Slovenian, 7 AI systems, with mention, recommendation and citation counted separately. The methodology is public. So is our own baseline.

The report arrives by email in about 15 minutes. The report and the methodology are in Slovenian.

The difference

What is GEO optimisation and how does it differ from SEO?

SEO makes sure your page ranks among the search results. GEO makes sure an AI system mentions you in the answer the buyer reads instead of a list of links. Both rest on the same foundations: an accessible, fast site, content in the HTML, a clear structure and answers to buyers' questions.

The difference is in the measurement. With GEO we don't count positions, we count answers. We look at three things separately: a mention (the system names you), a recommendation (the system suggests you as a provider) and a citation (the system cites your page as a source). A mention says AI knows you. A recommendation says it suggests you to a buyer. A citation says it relies on your page for the answer.

Who it is for

Who is GEO optimisation for?

For companies in Slovenia whose buyers compare providers before they buy: service and B2B companies, and online stores with a clear offer. If a buyer asks ChatGPT who in Slovenia offers your service, you want to be in the answer. If AI knows you by name but not by what you sell, that is the first sign the work is worth doing.

GEO does not replace advertising. Google Ads brings inquiries today; GEO builds what AI knows and says about you. We connect the two in a lead generation system.

What we do

What does GEO optimisation include?

Measurement

A set of 15 questions in Slovenian, tailored to your offer: brand questions about your company and non-brand questions from a buyer who doesn't know you yet. For every answer we record the system, the date, the cited URL and the providers mentioned.

Technical groundwork

AI crawler access in robots.txt, an llms.txt file, content that is in the HTML on first load, and structured data: Organization, Service, FAQPage and Person.

Question-led content

We shape pages so they answer the questions buyers put to AI systems. Every answer stands on its own: a definition in the first sentence, then verifiable facts.

Entity and external mentions

We make your company's name, address, services and description consistent across the website, Google Business Profile, directories and profiles. An AI system recognises a company more easily when different sources describe it the same way.

Repeat measurement

The same set of questions under the same recorded conditions. We compare mentions, recommendations and citations with the baseline system by system, not as one combined number.

Methodology

How do we measure visibility in AI search?

PIKA. Digital, based in Ljubljana, runs its GEO analysis to a methodology published at geo.pikadigital.eu/metodologija (in Slovenian). With the same set of 15 questions in Slovenian, it measures mention, recommendation and citation separately in seven AI systems.

The set has three groups: 3 brand questions about the company, 6 questions from a buyer looking for a provider, and 6 questions from a buyer trying to solve a problem. The non-brand questions contain no hint of the company. We measure ChatGPT with web search, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Bing's AI summary, Perplexity, Copilot and Gemini.

Every answer is taken in a new session. We record the date, time, language, location and the model where it is disclosed. Selected questions are repeated, because answers differ between runs. Shares are calculated per question, and we always state the number of valid answers. A system we cannot test is marked as not run, not as 0%.

Proof

What is our own baseline in AI search?

100%

mention for brand questions in all 7 systems (15 and 16 October 2026)

0–12.5%

mention for non-brand questions, depending on the system

AI systems measured

This is PIKA. Digital's own baseline, which we measure in public. When a buyer asks about us by name, all seven systems know us. When they ask for a provider, we are barely mentioned: the non-brand mention rate is 12.5% in ChatGPT, 8.3% in Copilot and Gemini, and 0% in the other four. We only appear for a question about windows and doors, through the Naitors case study.

For the question of who in Slovenia carries out GEO analysis, no system mentioned us on 15 and 16 October 2026. We will repeat the same set of questions on 16 November 2026.

The sample is small: one run for most systems, Bing's AI summary triggered for only 5 of the 15 questions, and Perplexity has 7 valid non-brand answers. This page quotes no client results, only our own measurements. The details are in the methodology (in Slovenian).

Process

How does GEO optimisation work?

Free report

You submit your domain at geo.pikadigital.eu. The report on your visibility in AI search arrives by email in about 15 minutes. It is in Slovenian.

Call and scope

Together we agree the questions your buyers ask, the pages we will work on and the scope of the work. Price and timeline are set out in the proposal.

Baseline measurement

With the agreed set of questions we measure where you stand today, before we change anything.

Improvements and repeat measurement

We work on the technical groundwork, content and mentions in the order of priority the measurement shows, then measure again with the same questions.

You can start without a call: submit your domain at geo.pikadigital.eu (the tool and the report are in Slovenian) and the report arrives in your inbox. We agree the scope and price of the work after the report and a first call.

FAQ

What do companies most often ask about GEO optimisation?

What is GEO optimisation?

GEO optimisation (generative engine optimisation) is the work of adjusting a company's website, content and external mentions so that AI systems such as ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot and Google AI Overviews mention it, recommend it and cite it as a source in their answers. Success is measured with the same set of questions before and after the improvements.

What is the difference between SEO and GEO?

SEO measures where your page ranks in search results. GEO measures whether AI mentions you in its answer and whether it cites your page as a source. The foundations are shared: an accessible site, a clear structure and content that answers questions. A good ranking on Google does not guarantee a mention in an AI answer.

How do you measure visibility in AI search?

With 15 questions in Slovenian across seven AI systems: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Bing, Perplexity, Copilot and Gemini. We keep brand and non-brand questions apart, and for every answer we record the mention, the recommendation, the cited URL and the date. The full methodology is published, in Slovenian, at geo.pikadigital.eu/metodologija.

How long does it take to see results?

We don't promise a timeframe in advance. AI systems update their indexes on their own schedule, and answers differ even between two runs of the same question. That is why we measure on agreed dates with the same set of questions. We repeat our own baseline measurement from 15 and 16 October 2026 on 16 November 2026.

Can you guarantee that ChatGPT will mention us?

No. Nobody can guarantee what an AI system will answer. What we guarantee is a measurement that shows where you stand today, the agreed improvements, and a repeat measurement that shows what has changed.

Do I need a new website for GEO?

Usually not. First we check whether AI crawlers can read the site and whether the content is in the HTML on first load. If the site allows that, we work on the content, structured data and mentions. We only suggest a new site if the existing one cannot support this, and we explain why.

What is llms.txt?

llms.txt is a text file in the root of a domain that tells AI systems, in a simple format, who you are, what you offer and which pages matter. It is a proposed standard that AI systems do not all follow, so it supplements a good website rather than replacing it. An example is pikadigital.eu/llms.txt.
